Estella Aldrich and Albert Glassnap
This picture was taken during their dating years. They met at a dance in Oneida, Wisconsin in late June of 1926. Albert had driven from Appleton to Oneida that evening with several of his friends including Herb Stranen. Estella had taken a bus there from DePere with her good friend Leona Seroogy. Albert was quite captivated by Estella’s quiet charm. She was quite shy and this probably added a bit of mystique to her personality. Estella made quite a hit with another of Albert’s friends that night too. His name was Eddy and he wanted to date her but she chose to date Al instead. As time went by, Herb and Leona were married and later Albert and Estella were also married. The two couples remained close friends until Herb’s untimely death on January 24th, 1944. In fact, Estella and Al had been to Leona and Herb’s apartment visiting the night before his death. In this picture it appears that Estella has a toothache as her face is swollen. She had some problems with abscessed teeth in her younger years. Perhaps this picture was taken during one of those times.
