Patrick Cannon Injured In RR Accident Dies at Homewood Station, Pennsylvania
Pictured are “Now” and “Then” Photos Of Homewood Junction, Pennsylvania
Homewood Station was less than a half-mile down the road from here. It was a small station that no longer exists. There wasn’t much else there. Patrick Cannon’s widow said that he lived in Pennsylvania at the time of his death. Homewood Junction was a booming town in its glory days. The railroad employed more than 100 people there, including 18 telegraphers and at one time there were two hotels in the town. He might have stayed at the St. Cloud Hotel pictured here.

James and Bridget (Cannon) Sheahan
Married November 20, 1888, in Manitowoc Co., Wisconsin
Bridget Cannon was the daughter of Patrick Cannon. After Patrick’s death, his widow, Mary (Murphy) Cannon, and his daughter Bridget, were found in the Manitowoc County 1880 census living with Mary (Finegan) Cannon, the widow of James A. Cannon. James A. Cannon lived in Manitowoc County in 1850 (from census and land records). By February of 1851, his widow was selling off their property alone. Ellen (Cannon) Bley had a relative living in Manitowoc County besides Patrick’s family, as seen on the next page. It was probably James A. Cannon because he is the only Cannon in the records there during that early time period. Possibly he was a brother of Patrick and Ellen. Their father’s name was James and the oldest son, could easily have been named after his father.
