Wilhelmine Rohloff
Wilhelmine Aldophine Carlotte Rohwedel Rohloff
She was sometimes called Minnie or Mathilde. She was the step-mother of Johanna Rohloff Leverenz. Johanna’s birth-mother died when she was only nine years old. Her father remarried when she was a young teen so this is the “mother” that raised her through her adolescent years. The family often referred to her as “The Old Mother”. She lived with Hannah’s half-brother, John Rohloff, on Superior Street in Appleton after John’s wife died and he was left with four children to raise by himself. So Mathilde, or Minnie, Rohloff got to raise a new crop of youngsters at John’s house, too. The nickname “The Old Mother” well described her. Everyone always spoke very highly of her.
