The Leverenz Farm

Fred Leverenz (Fudda) Stands to the left of the house holding his beloved horses.  Horses were such an important part of the farms in those days that they often included them in a family portrait like this.  His wife, Johanna (or Mudda), sits in the middle of the porch with some of her children and grandchildren, children of their daughter, Emma Leverenz Krieser.  Belva Krieser, (a granddaughter) is between Mudda and Fudda.  On the right of her are grandson, Carl R. Krieser; her daughter, Bertha Leverenz; a granddaughter, Lil Krieser; and another daughter, Anna Leverenz.  Look at the profusion of flowers in front of the house!  They said that her front yard was always filled with beautiful flowers.   That broad, ever-present smile is on her face in this photo, too.  She must have been a beautiful person on the inside as well as on the outside.  The photo was taken about 1903.
