Note:  Many thanks to Jo Ann Wall for researching this line of the Cannon family.  Whether or not the picture on the following page is of James A. and Mary (Finegan) Cannon, this family deserves to be remembered in this mini-history as there was some connection between this family and our Cannon line.  Let’s hope that the exact relationship will someday be established with further research, a mystery that waits to be solved in the future.

Another Manitowoc County Connection

But What Are Their Names? And What Is The Relationship?

This picture, taken in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, belonged to Ellen (Cannon) Bley.  She had told her daughter, Eliza, that they were her relatives but Eliza forgot their names and the relationship.  The only Cannons living in that county during that early period of time was James A Cannon and his wife, Mary.  After James died, his widow was found living with the widow of Patrick Cannon, who was the brother of Ellen (Cannon) Bley.  This picture might be of James A. and Mary (Finegan) Cannon or Mary and her second husband, Dennis Shea, whom she married 25 June 1854.  There are no records of James A Cannon after 1850.  Her Second marriage record said she was the former Mary Finegan, widow of James Cannon.  Further research might prove the Cannon relationships.
